Recycling Food Waste

With landfill tax at £40 per tonne and rising, businesses, until recently, have had no option but to send all food waste to landfill. As food waste is twenty five times more harmful than carbon monoxide, this has been a considerable problem.
The Grott Box was developed by Angelheart Inc. Ltd to provide " a packed lunch for an anaerobic digestor".
The Grott Box is a cardboard box lined with an organic wax to absorb almost all smell.
All three categories of food waste can be scrapped directly into the box. That includes raw and cooked meat and meat products, bone, as well as cellophane packaging and any loose cardboard.
The box is supplied flat packed with a lid. Once full, it can be stacked and stored in a dry location ready for weekly collection.
The box and it's contents is fed whole through a macerator into an anaerobic digestor. At the other end of the process, nitrogen rich compost is produced. Any cellophane is sieved off separately.
An increasing number of businesses are contacting Rabbitt Recycling (UK) Ltd to join a milk round collection service to reduce the amount of general waste going to landfill.
